GVNotifier 1.4.1

GVNotifier 1.4.1 is live – auto-update to get it or download here.  This is a minor update, I’ve been very busy lately so this is a bugfixing release only.  Notable changes include:

  • Passwords are encrypted in the settings file, and in memory.  This is not strong encryption, but it’s better than plain text or simple encoding.
  • The old AppData directory is deleted if present (1.0-1.3)
  • Crash reporter – if the app crashes, a report is automatically sent the next time you run GVNotifier.

If you’re having trouble with ClickOnce, or need files for a portable version (create a blank settings.xml file), get the standalone version.  This version does not have auto-update!

  2. GVN 1.4.1 doesn’t seem to want to download more than 30 of my contacts. I have hundreds. Am I doing something wrong?

  4. @Jeff – contacts will show up if they have at least one phone number that is not in the 406 area code.

  6. Dave, does the GVnotifier application have issues with numbers of the 406 area code? Most of my contacts are 406 numbers and I am unable send sms messages to these numbers. Upon selecting and opening a correspondence window, the number is replaced by a seemingly random string of numbers. The replacement phone number is consistent for each contact. The issue also occurs even when entering the number manually.

I did try sms messaging a non-406 number–by manually entering the number–and that worked, but it does not solve my problem.

  8. @EkaInfinitos – yes, 406 numbers are ignored. a setting is coming in a future milestone to enable them.
