GVNotifer 1.1.0.106 is live, fixes Phone’s not appearing.

December 11, 2009 by Dave

Google made a change today that caused an issue that blocked Phone numbers from loading correctly in GVNotifier.  Restart twice(!) for the auto-update system to download the update.

You can install GVNotifier if you don’t already have it.

This update includes two changes only:

- Fix for Google’s change.

- Auto-Update change:  Updates will be discovered BEFORE launch each time.

  2. Before launch, you say? Does that mean we’ll only have to restart once now to get the new updates? =p

  4. Where does the GVNotifier.NET contact list pull from? When I click on the system tray icon, there are lots of contacts that are listed as phone numbers only with no contact info, but I’ve gone through my contact klist in gmail, and there are no contacts like that.

  6. Yes, this is correct. You’ll also now see the ClickOnce update dialog while starting.

  8. Hi Cary -

Numbers only are pulled from GV SMS messages, and from Missed/Placed/Received calls. In a future version, this behavior will be configurable or removed.

  10. Dave,

This app is amazing. I use it all the time now. As a fellow .NET developer, I’d be interested contributing. Have you considered releasing the source or putting the project on codeplex?

  12. I get “Google Voice account user/password invalid” error and I can’t long in GV unfortunately (using own GV number and logging from California, meaning US ip).

    If you have any idea..

  14. Hey i LOVE this app, thank you so much for making it. But on my EEE 1000HE the process constantly hovers around 50 percent of the processor usage. I have the newest version, i just thought i would let you know :) thanks

  16. OK for some reason this stopped working for me. Even with a msg waiting I still get no notification. Even when forcing checc for new messages still nothing.

  18. I was getting the login username/password error everytime I started the program and then I solved it. I am the one who still uses dialup at work and use NetZero as my ISP. It only works if I turn off their HiSpeed service. This service routes traffic through a proxy to provide compressed photos. Turning the “HiSpeed” off bypasses the proxy I believe.

    Thanks for all the work!

P.S. I have accidently called people instead of bringing up the text box by clicking on the phone. Could you add an option to require confirmation before dialing?
